Glitter-Throwing Protester Attacks Official, Shouts ‘Dick-tatorship!’

Some of this story concerns European economic policy, but I promise if you stick with it you’ll end up seeing some amazing photos.

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi held a press conference earlier today to address a potential Greek default. There have been reports that the nation of Greece is getting ready to default on its loans, but the government has thus far denied it.

Draghi said, “Based on the Greek government leaders’ statements this option is not contemplated by themselves as well. So I am not ready to discuss any possible situation like that.”

But at one point during his presser, a female protester jumped up on the table, shouted about an “ECB dictatorship,” threw glitter on Draghi, and was dragged away by security. Reports said she was part of a group accusing the ECB of “autocratic hegemony.”

The ECB released this statement:

“Initial findings suggest that the activist registered as journalist for a news organisation she does not represent. Like all visitors to the ECB, she went through an identity check, metal detector and x-ray of her bag, before entering the building.”

And now we come to the pictures I promised, and boy are they something:

And you can watch video of the glitter-bombing here, via Bloomberg:
