GOP Rep. Mo Brooks: DREAMers in Military Not ‘100 Percent’ Trustworthy
Republican Mo Brooks, the same congressman behind yesterday’s rather controversial “war on whites” comment, said in a radio interview last month that DREAMers should not serve in the U.S. military because they’re not trustworthy enough. He took particular note of the weapons they would have access to if they joined.
Brooks, in comments flagged today by BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski, expressed concerns about American citizens competing with illegal aliens to serve in the U.S. military. He was speaking out against the ENLIST Act, a proposal to let young illegal immigrants receive resident status if they first serve in the military.
Brooks expressed concerns about this kind of policy being implemented.
“These individuals have to be absolutely 100 percent loyal and trustworthy, as best as we can make them, because they’re gonna have access to all sorts of military weaponry, even to the point of having access to weapons of mass destruction like our nuclear arsenal… And I’m gonna have much greater faith in the loyalty of an American citizen than someone who is a citizen of a foreign nation.”
