“It’s a vehicle that will enable me to go around the country to try to find like-minded Republicans who do not support a government shutdown, who do not support Ted Cruz’s whole idea of a government shutdown, of Rand Paul being isolationist,” the lawmaker told the press while announcing the group called American Leadership Now.
King emerged as a vocal critic of Sen. Paul (R-KY) after the libertarian-leaning senator took to the Senate floor to protest the use of drone strikes. He later became a critic of Sen. Cruz (R-TX) during the shutdown debate that split the GOP’s “tea party” faction from the “establishment” wing.
“Join Congressman Pete King in our mission to restore trust in American government,” the PAC’s fundraising site implores visitors.
