Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton unexpectedly called into Anderson Cooper 360 tonight amid the news breaking out of Nice, France that 77 people were killed in an apparent attack.
When pressed to identify whether or not we as a nation were at war — a distinction that Donald Trump was willing to make earlier this evening — Clinton admitted, “It’s clear,” followed by a pause “–we are at war, with these terrorist groups and what they represent.”
“It’s a very different kind of war,” Clinton cautioned, discussing the cautious nature with which threats such as this should be addressed.
“Who are we at war with?” furthered Cooper.
“Radical Jihadists who use Islam to recruit and radicalize others in order to pursue their evil agenda,” she said, though noted that the specified labels were not important.
Clinton made the same points in her first interview of the night with Bill O’Reilly.
