Laura Ingraham Ripped on Twitter After Mocking Parkland Survivor For Not Getting Into Preferred Colleges

In response to Fox News host Laura Ingraham mocking Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg for not getting into his preferred universities, media figures ripped the conservative pundit for punching down and trying to embarrass a high school student.
Ingraham, who, incidentally, spent her collegiate career at Dartmouth outing closeted gay students with fellow right-wing troll Dinesh D’Souza, made the comments after Hogg appeared on TMZ to discuss his life since surviving the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which took the lives of 17 people. During the interview, Hogg voiced disappointment after not getting accepted into California’s four main public universities.
Fox News’ newest star then used that information to rip Hogg, who has been one of the main faces of the youth movement for gun control that began after Parkland:
David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.) https://t.co/wflA4hWHXY

In turn, many media figures responded to Ingraham’s attack by pointing to her “lack of empathy” and calling the slam “desperate”:
imagine being an adult who hates a teenager so much you pants him online for getting rejected by colleges https://t.co/RPw52nqq1h

There’s a basic lack of empathy surrounding some of the right-wing media coverage of the Parkland survivors that is pretty gross. pic.twitter.com/W1lnGBuKTV

I get they disagree with his politics, but truly do not understand adults with large national platforms attempting to embarrass a teenager for not getting into a few colleges. https://t.co/6kqeZkyXo7

owning a high school shooting survivor for not getting into certain colleges is this website’s peak level of discourse

most Fox News fans are obviously ride or die but 2-3% will start to wonder why full force is being brought to bear against a teenager who just survived a tragedy

How desparate do you have to be to pick on kids. You are filth @IngrahamAngle. https://t.co/CGlH5AF13s

UPDATE: TMZ’s Harvey Levin, who interviewed Hogg, also responded to Ingraham to tell her that Hogg was not whining and did not bring up the topic.
@IngrahamAngle David was not whining. I called him about the story. He was not feeling sorry for himself in the slightest. It was my idea that colleges should consider applicants who are so committed. Did you watch the video???

UPDATE: Ingraham has apologized over her comments:
Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland. For the record, I believe my show was the first to feature David…(1/2)

… immediately after that horrific shooting and even noted how "poised" he was given the tragedy. As always, he’s welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion. WATCH: https://t.co/5wcd00wWpd (2/2)
