Limbaugh, Daily Caller Respond with Ire, Amusement to DNC Call for Boycott
The Democratic National Committee sent out an e-mail Thursday railing against Rush Limbaugh and The Daily Caller, pushing a petition to get Republicans to boycott the conservative media site. The reaction from both The DC and Limbaugh was a mixture of frustration and amusement.
The kerfuffle came after Limbaugh made a crack about asking women’s breasts to “stop staring at my eyes” to make a point about liberal political correctness about the objectification of women. Daily Caller reporter Patrick Howley wrote up a researched, detailed piece on the same subject of political correctness.
So after the DNC released the e-mail condemning both, Howley fired back, declaring, “The Daily Caller refuses to be intimidated.”
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has called for Republican party leaders to boycott The Daily Caller in an attempt to suppress the First Amendment rights of this news organization.
He even invokes James Madison‘s remarks on the silent encroachment of freedom.
Limbaugh also responded on his radio show Friday, explaining the crack was to illustrate “the absurdity of what the libs are trying to pull off here.” He noted it’s abundantly clear that the DNC, egged on by “wacko nutcase oddballs” on the left, are making this a case of “genuine sexism” in a concerted effort to raise money off of him.
