Limbaugh: Goodell Attacks Part of Left’s ‘Assault on Football’

Rush Limbaugh thinks he knows why liberals are piling on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell: because there is a liberal “assault on football” in the U.S. that won’t end until women’s groups shut down professional football altogether.

Limbaugh said the left will never be happy with the NFL, no matter what concessions they offer. He jumped on NOW calling for Goodell to resign over the Ray Rice controversy (which Stephen A. Smith also went off on) and said, “No matter what they’re given, no matter what compromises are made in their direction, they’re never happy with whatever they get.”

Because, Limbaugh argued, for liberals it’s a slippery slope to ending the NFL altogether:

“Pretty soon what they’re gonna be saying is, ‘To hell with violence against women. The game itself is too violent. We don’t need this in our culture. We don’t need this kind of barbarism in our society. We don’t need these kinds of rewards for injuring people’… This is where they’re headed, and right in there assisting with this––unwittingly, by the way––have been the sports drive-bys who love leftist cultural upheaval wherever it happens.”
