A black man named Tim Caughman was fatally stabbed by a white supremacist who came to New York from Baltimore to kill people of color, per reports. The name of the suspect is James Harris Jackson, who is not only an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, but also a member of a documented hate group from Maryland, according to the New York Daily News.
The stabbing took place in Midtown Manhattan yesterday, and around midnight Jackson turned himself in, saying, “You need to arrest me. I have the knife in my coat. I’m the person you’re looking for.”
He told the cops he was motivated by rage against black men who get romantically involved with white women.
NYPD Assistant Chief William Aubrey, head of Manhattan detectives, said this:
It is believed he was specifically intending to target male blacks. It’s been well over 10 years that he has been harboring his hate towards blacks… The reason why he chose New York because it is the media capital of the world and he wanted to make a statement.
Caughman was heard asking his attacker, “What are you doing?” With multiple wounds, he was able to get to a police station a few blocks away. He was rushed to a hospital but did not survive.
A Twitter account that appears to belong to the victim identified him as someone who enjoyed collecting autographs and had a dream of visiting California. He was living in transitional housing for people with HIV/AIDS at the time of his death.
