Megyn Kelly Rips Donna Karan for Defending Weinstein: ‘I’m Done With Donna Karan’
Fashion designer Donna Karan has received a ton of criticism over the past 24 hours for — in response to a question about disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein — suggesting women are “asking for it” in cases of sexual harassment.
“How do we present ourselves as women?” Karan said, in a video posted by the Daily Mail. “What are we asking? Are we asking for it by presenting all the sensuality and all the sexuality?”
Suffice it to say, Megyn Kelly is not here for Karan’s take.
In her Megyn Kelly Today monologue Tuesday, the host blasted Karan for suggesting that a woman’s attire invites harassment.
“I don’t give a damn if a woman shows up in a bikini to the office,” Kelly said. “It makes it okay for her boss to say, ‘Go home and change.’ That’s it.”
The subject, of course, is personal for Kelly — the Fox News veteran who came forward with sexual harassment claims against the network’s late boss, Roger Ailes, in her 2016 memoir.
Karan did try to walk back her comments, claiming in a statement that her remarks were taken out of context.
“[S]exual harassment is NOT acceptable and this is an issue that MUST be addressed once and for all regardless of the individual,” Karan said in the statement (via Fox News).
But that wasn’t sufficient for Kelly.
“How about we not pile on, Donna?” Kelly said. “How about we use this moment to encourage women to find their own voices, despite the risks and to stand up for themselves — which is hard enough, without rich, powerful, well-connected fashion moguls lecturing them on their fashion choices.
“And speaking of fashion choices,” Kelly said in closing, “Here’s one for you: I’m done with Donna Karan.”
