Michael Sam Responds to Lobbyist Pushing for Gay NFLer Ban
Republican lobbyist Jack Burkman stirred the pot this week when he announced he’d be pushing for a bill to ban openly gay players from being in the National Football League. This was done mere weeks after NFL draft prospect Michael Sam came out of the closet and inspired much debate about gay acceptance in the NFL, and today Sam took to Twitter to respond to Burkman, telling him if he really wants to stop openly gay football players from joining the big leagues, he’s gonna need a time machine.
Jack Burkman is going to need a Delorian, not some bogus bill, if he wants to prevent gay athletes from being in the locker room

For what it’s worth, however, Burkman remains confident that his proposed legislation will not only make it to Congress, but Republicans will flock en masse to support it.
Our NFL legislation is gaining steam. GOP members facing right-wing challenges this year will be afraid NOT to support our initiative.

Burkman’s brother, a gay man, spoke out in support of Sam yesterday, calling his brother an “ass.”
