Mike Pence Breaks From Trump On Jeff Sessions: ‘I Hold Him in the Highest Regard’
Wow. Asked if he has confidence in Jeff Sessions, Vice President Mike Pence says, “I hold Jeff Sessions in the highest regard. I appreciate his service to the nation.”

Sometimes it appears as if the President and the Vice President don’t speak.
Vice President Mike Pence told CNN Wednesday that he holds Attorney General Jeff Sessions in “the highest regard.”
Pence’s comment runs completely counter to President Donald Trump‘s repeated criticisms of Sessions, telling him to shut down the Mueller probe and calling it a “rigged witch hunt.” Sessions, for his part, recused himself from the investigation due to his part as an ally to President Trump during the 2016 election and his communication with the Russians.
But the comment is more directly related to new reporting from veteran journalist Bob Woodward which claims that Trump called Sessions “mentally retarded.”
“He’s this dumb Southerner. … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama,” Trump reportedly said. Naturally, Trump denies having said this.
