NFL Player Adrian Peterson Indicted for Reckless or Negligent Injury to a Child

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Texas for reckless or negligent injury of a child. Peterson’s attorney confirmed the indictment was issued today.

According to WCCO, the police report that warranted the indictment read that Peterson “whooped” one of his kids last year. Peterson’s four-year-old son reportedly visited him last May and Peterson hit him multiple times with a tree branch.

The following photographs were included in the Houston police report:

Peterson had told investigators he didn’t think the punishment was excessive, but now a grand jury has indicted him on the child abuse charges.

The Vikings issued this statement about the indictment:

The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin.
