Paul Ryan Gushes About Trump in First TV Interview Since Calling It Quits: We ‘Developed a Good Friendship’

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) stopped by The Daily Briefing on Fox News Wednesday, for his first TV interview since announcing his departure from Congress at the end of his term. But the Congressman is, for the moment, still a politician. And as a politician, he’s apparently not averse to making claims that are really, really hard to believe.

Daily Briefing Host Dana Perino asked the House Speaker about his relationship with President Donald Trump. And the Representative from Wisconsin gushed about a man from whom he’s had many public and private spats.

“[I]t’s just knowing each other,” Ryan said — chalking up his prior differences with the president to their not having a personal relationship. “We spend a great deal of time with each other. I’m having dinner with him. We speak on the phone constantly. So honestly, we just developed a good friendship. We’ve developed a good rapport. He is the one who gave us with his victory this ability to get all this work done.”

We eagerly await Ryan being asked this question again once he’s out of office.
