Priebus on Trump VP Pick: We Need ‘A Degree of Diversity on the Ballot’
The VP hunt is on for Donald Trump, and after Ben Carson basically gave away half the list, some people are wondering whether the Trump camp is giving any considerations to boosting diversity on the ticket at all.
Radio host Hugh Hewitt told RNC Chair Reince Priebus today that while he likes the idea of maybe Sarah Palin or Newt Gingrich, the GOP desperately needs a younger pick to close the millennial gap.
Priebus said first off that people shouldn’t be reading so much into the gossip about who may or may not be on Trump’s ticket, while assuring that the Trump campaign understands what kind of person they should be looking for.
“There has to be a degree of diversity on the ballot,” he acknowledged, while still making it clear the decision isn’t up to him.
