Rudy Giuliani: They’d Be Impeaching George W. Bush By Now
Suffice to say it’s going to take more than President Obama landing a $20 billion escrow fund from BP Oil to get the Republicans to say something nice about him. In fact, one thinks Obama might have to go out to northwest Pakistan and capture Osama bin Laden with his bare hands to muster a round of applause from the opposite aisle. Nevertheless, Joe Scarborough asked former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is he has anything nice to say following yesterday’s Rose Garden announcement. The answer is no. With his usual subtly, Giuliani described Obama’s actions thusly:
“Joe, the president has so mishandled this that it would be impossible for me to describe how horribly mishandled this was.”
Never fear, he’s willing to give it a shot: It was horrendous, this is a horrible case of malpractice, negligence, gross negligence.” Giuliani is referring specifically here to the administration’s inability to get an accurate number from BP on how much oil was leaking (though that may not have mattered in the beginning). Also, Giuliani think Obama has taken way too many vacations (which is a slippery slope to get on for any Bush supporter). And while we’re on Bush, the former mayor thinks that if Bush was in power “they’d be working on impeaching him by now, there would be like a movement to throw him out of office.” Considering Bush made it through eight years, shall we say tumultuous, years in office with no move to impeach I’d hazard that Giuliani is overstating things somewhat.
