The chairman and ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee announced today two subpoenas are being issued for Michael Flynn‘s businesses.
Yesterday Flynn’s lawyers said he would be pleading the Fifth and would not comply with the initial subpoena the committee issued, citing the “escalating public frenzy.”
So Senate Intel Chair Richard Burr and Ranking Member Mark Warner announced “three actions” they are taking in response to this.
Burr said they sent a letter to Flynn’s lawyer questioning him pleading the Fifth before Warner disclosed the two subpoenas:
“We issued two subpoenas to two Michael Flynn businesses that we’re aware of––Flynn Intel, LLC and Flynn Intel, Inc.––both located in Alexandria, Virginia with a specific list of documents because while we disagree with General Flynn’s lawyer’s interpretation of taking the Fifth, it is even more clear that a business does not have a right to take the Fifth if it’s a corporation, so those subpoenas––one has been served, one is in the process of being served.”
