Senate Votes 98-1 to Affirm Climate Change Is Not a Hoax
The United States Senate voted 98-1 on an amendment to affirm that climate change is not a hoax, but is, in fact, real. Yes, that’s 98-1, in a Republican-controlled Senate, with even climate skeptic James Inhofe voting yes.
Here is the full text of the amendment:
It is the sense of the Senate that climate change is real and not a hoax.
Aaaaand that’s it. Not really much to it.
And yes, as mentioned above, James Inhofe, who literally wrote the book on how global warming is a hoax (titled The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future), voted yes.
Though his tweet on the subject was a little confused:
Senators – join me in voting YES on Whitehouse's amdmnt saying climate change is a hoax, bc it is. I'll address my vote in floor speech soon

But nevertheless, he voted to say it wasn’t a hoax. And he also co-sponsored it. Why? Because… well, get ready for this:
Senate votes 98-1 on Whitehouse (+Inhofe) resolution that climate change is real and not a hoax. Why? It doesn't say humans cause it.

So in other words, the deliberate vagueness of the amendment earned his support. Good job, everyone.
For the record, the one vote against was Republican Roger Wicker.
Oh, and when the issue of whether human activity contributes to climate change, the vote fell more across familiar lines:
By a vote of 59-40, the Senate now DEFEATS an amendment reading, "Climate change is real and human activity contributes to it."
