South Carolina’s Confederate Flag Will Come Down Tomorrow
The Confederate flag at the South Carolina state capitol is coming down tomorrow, after the state’s legislature voted to do so.
The state senate voted 36-3 to take down the flag earlier this week, and earlier today the state house voted 93-27 to take it down.
The legislature was spurred on by Governor Nikki Haley‘s call to take the flag down just weeks ago, and today, a Haley spokesperson said that the flag is coming down tomorrow.
There’s a ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow in which the flag will come down.
One Republican legislator made an incredibly emotional plea to remove the flag earlier today, and Haley will sign the legislation to take it down at approximately 4:00 p.m. today.
