Telecom Giants Have Overwhelmingly Donated to Hillary Clinton
The telecommunications industry––everyone’s favorite providers of cable and internet that sort of works but not quite but dammit we lost it again––has overwhelmingly given money to Hillary Clinton compared to the other candidates this election cycle.
A BuzzFeed community user flagged the numbers today, and in examining the numbers on OpenSecrets, it’s clear that Clinton has received far more than other candidates from this sector.
Clinton has received over $600,000 from the telecom industry this cycle. Right behind her is Bernie Sanders with around $154,000 and Jeb Bush with $74,000.
Donald Trump has so far only received around $19,000 from the industry.
And even when you factor in other donations outside of the presidential sphere, Clinton is still head and shoulders ahead of everyone else.
It’s also worth highlighting donations by the two giants: Comcast and Time Warner. And––surprise surprise––the political individual that’s received the most amount of donations from both is Clinton, with $126,000 from Comcast and $327,000 from Time Warner.
The lists for both companies show no donations thus far to Trump.
Overall, both companies have given sizable amounts of money to members and committees of both parties.
