The FBI Has a Manual Detailing Every Single Piece of Twitter Slang
LOL, WTH? The website MuckRock, through a Freedom of Information Act request, obtained a copy of a manual the FBI put together with a list of basically every single piece of internet slang you could ever think of, and then some. Seriously, there are acronyms on here you wouldn’t recognize in 100 years without some help.
First off, there’s ALOTBSOL, which is shorthand for “always look on the bright side of life,” and while I appreciate the FBI indirectly acknowledging the existence of Monty Python, why exactly do they need to know all this? And ASAP is on there, you know, just in case someone forgot what that means.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the choice pieces of Twitter slang the FBI chronicled for its own purposes.
- AYFKMWTS- Are you f*cking kidding me with this sh*t
- BTDTGTTAWIO- Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, and wore it out
- DITYID- Did I tell you I’m depressed?
- GJOAC- Go jump off a cliff
- ICYMI- In case you missed it (in this case, it being what this acronym stands for)
- KD- Kraft dinner
- NSFW- Not safe for work
- OMJC- Oh my Jesus Christ
- RFN- Right f*cking now
- UGG- Ugly/ugly person
- YSS- You suck severely
WTFFBI.
