The Top Winners and Losers of a Surprisingly Eventful Summer 2013
While summer is usually known for its breezy pace of news, 2013 turned out to be decidedly dramatic. Between the Zimmerman trial, the turmoil in Egypt, special sessions in Texas, and the New York City mayoral race, this summer offered more than its fair share of stories, something Jon Oliver alluded to when he noted that what should have been a fill-in gig never gave him time to catch his breath. (Oliver is not listed as a “Winner” here, because he already is everywhere else.)
But the heat can take its toll on some folk. Below are the five figures who treated the summer like a day at the beach, and those who can’t wait for the leaves to change.
