Top Ten Outrageous Sarah Palin Stories Oprah Will Have To Address

As reported yesterday, Sarah Palin will make her Oprah debut on November 16, one day before her already best-selling book Going Rogue is released to the public. We, also noted yesterday that the lack of Oprah's presence in during the 2008 political season (she removed herself after publicly declaring support for Barack Obama) was particularly felt after Sarah Palin entered the race and it became clear she was perhaps not equipped for the role of Vice President. That said, it's clear that Palin is hoping to relaunch her political career with the release of her memoir this November so no time like the present! Palin has done only a handful of interviews since she and McCain lost the election last November, most recently appearing on the Today show in June with Matt Lauer to respond to David Letterman's late night joke about her daughter. But it's been a while since she's been on the hot seat (read: Katie Couric) and there's certainly plenty to talk about! Oh Levi. In the last few months, while Sarah Palin was locked away furiously writing her memoir, Levi Johnston, father to Palin's grandson Trip, has been enjoying most of the Palin spotlight. Johnston has taken his 15 minutes of fame as an opportunity to bare all: first in a long piece in October's Vanity Fair and now, in the more literal sense of bare, as an upcoming Playgirl centerfold (maybe). >>>NEXT: Who's Your Mommy: Palin and the Trig Birthers 2. Calling Andrew Sullivan and the Sarah Palin birthers! Ever since Palin stepped into the national spotlight in August 2008 there has been persistent speculation as to whether she is truly the mother of her youngest son Trig or whether the baby actually belongs her daughter Bristol and Palin's merely claimed to be his parent's so as some sort of cover-up. Levi hit on the sensitive subject again in his first-person VF piece. It remains to be seen if Palin mentions it in her memoir, but if she's considering another run for public office it's absolutely fair game for Oprah. Considering the year they'd just been through this news seemed about the least shocking news to be reported about the Palin family. However, her spokesperson quickly shot it down: "No truth to any of the rumors...No divorce. No affairs. No land in Montana. Nothing! All lies and fabrications!" Ah, yes, lies and fabrications! >>>NEXT: "I promised efficiencies and effectiveness!": Sarah Palin Resigns 4. Why did Sarah Palin resign as Governor of Alaska? Her resignation speech was famously convoluted, and much mimicked, and took the media world by complete surprise. Palin's claim that she stopped serving as Governor to better serve her country, or some such, may not fly so well with the no-nonsense Oprah who will likely press the point for a more specific answer. >>>NEXT: Death Panels 5. The biggest risk Oprah is running with this interview is that she is a well-known Obama supporter, as such it will require some tap-dancing for her to ask political questions without seeming partisan. That said! Palin took a lot of flack from animal rights activists (and much of the public at large) for her love of a sport called aerial wolf hunting. If there is one topic that Oprah will side on Palin with it is probably the question of clothing. Shortly before election day last year rumors surfaced that the Republican National Committee had spent $150,000 plus on clothing and make-up for Gov. Sarah Palin and her family. Cue media outrage. Cue one of the more banal storylines to follow Palin around: every woman in the public eye has had to contend with similar accusations. I'm betting yes. Will Palin be prepared to provide better answers to the ones she gave Couric last year; namely what papers does she read and can she really see Russia from her house? Palin has said at different times in the past year that she felt both flattered and exploited by Fey's (in)famous portrayal of her. How does she really feel? The other man in her life. John McCain may have kept mostly mum on his feelings regarding Sarah Palin since the two parted ways last November, but that certainly hasn't kept McCain's former staffers from having a rather vicious go at the Wonder from Wasilla.
