Four U.S. Military Personnel Have Been Detained in Libya (UPDATED)

Four United States military personnel have been detained by the Interior Ministry of Libya, according to CNN. Two U.S. officials confirmed independently that the four individuals were taken, but at this point it is reportedly unclear what exactly happened or why.

UPDATE: CNN now reports that the four military personnel have been released.

This comes just weeks after the U.S. military disclosed plans to train Libyan security personnel, even with the concern over the “shifting ties” of militia groups.

You’ll recall that last year in September, four American diplomats lost their lives in an attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
