The Super Bowl is almost upon us, and you know what that means: ads. Lots and lots of stupid ads, a few clever ones, and one really somber and emotional one that makes grown men weep before they go back to cheering and shouting as two teams pulverize each other. And Volkswagen has decided to capitalize on this by releasing a tongue-in-cheek teaser for its Super Bowl ad, because advertising is such a crucial part of our society that ads get their own ads now.
In the ad, you see German engineers meticulously crafting the perfect Super Bowl ad based on all the tropes we love: adorable babies, cute and cuddly animals, sexy ladies, an old man getting hit in the nuts, a dude in a Lincoln costume, a gigantic freaking chicken, a dinosaur, some other guy in a burger costume, and Wang Chung.
But let’s face it: whatever the real Super Bowl ads are going to be, they will definitely be much worse.
