Watch Members of Congress Read Mean Tweets About Themselves

One of the most popular bits on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is when Kimmel gets celebrities to read mean tweets about themselves, but if you thought the cringe humor of celebrities facing their worst critics was crazy, wait until you see how members of Congress handle it. That’s right, NowThis News decided to get members of Congress to read mean tweets about themselves, and the results are interesting to behold.

NowThis news started each video by explaining the Kimmel bit and then saying “We decided to try the concept on a different kind of celebrity.” Not very many members of Congress participated, but some of those that did took it in good humor.

Senator David Vitter read about how he’s a “#loser,” while Chuck Schumer found out he’s “about as original as an old pair of shoes.” Senator Claire McCaskill read the most insulting of the bunch: “You really suck a pig’s ass.” Paul Ryan received the most backhanded compliment, being praised for his “pretty blue eyes” and denounced as “Satan” in the same sentence.

But perhaps the best sport was Democrat Eric Swalwell, who read about the voices in his head only to be distracted by one of those very voices.
