White House, Congress React to Release of CBO Report on Health Care Bill

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released their long-awaited report on the recently-passed House health care bill Wednesday, and members of Congress from both sides of the aisle weighed in.
The White House sent out this response earlier:

Democrats on Twitter quickly declared that the CBO report confirmed their fears about the legislation, and called on the GOP to abandon it and start over.
The @HouseGOP tried to put lipstick on a pig. It turned out to be a mess. Stay loud. #CBOscore

House Republicans pushed through a bad health care bill before knowing how many
people would be without health coverage— Senator Gary Peters (@SenGaryPeters) May 24, 2017
The House health care bill would devastate millions of families and shred our health care safety net. https://t.co/cx9NlmuiLU #CBOSCORE

The #CBOScore makes it perfectly clear: unless you’re a healthy millionaire, #Trumpcare is a nightmare.

Instead of moving forward with this bill, we need to work together to reduce costs and improve care for those we serve. -SB

If the AHCA becomes law, up to 23 million Americans could lose their insurance. Think about that for a second.
It's unacceptable.

Once again, @SpeakerRyan is celebrating a bill that kicks millions off coverage & shreds protections for those still covered. #Trumpcare https://t.co/SjvWpKVYVA

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, tried to spin the report as a win for the GOP.
This @USCBO report again confirms that the American Health Care Act will lower premiums and the deficit. https://t.co/kmjeUP2qqF pic.twitter.com/YJnXUyD3xO

The CBO reports yet again that our plan will keep a promise #Obamacare broke—premiums will go down. https://t.co/sHMmwdtD8N

But two Republican Senators clearly distanced themselves from the House bill and instead took the opportunity to renew their criticisms of Obamacare.

Obamacare is a disaster and every day brings fresh evidence that it is collapsing before our very eyes.
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) May 24, 2017
With today’s news, the ‘Collapse and Replace’ of Obamacare may prove to be the most effective path forward.
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) May 24, 2017
After Obamacare collapses, we should challenge Democrats to work with us to fix the mess they created.
