Charlamagne Knocks Obama For Being ‘Chummy, Chummy’ With Trump at Jimmy Carter’s Funeral: ‘He’s Kissing the Ring!’

Charlamagne Tha God was said former President Barack Obama’s “chummy, chummy” treatment of President-elect Donald Trump at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral made it look “kissing the ring.”

On Friday’s edition of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne argued the viral videos of Obama and Trump engaging in a friendly conversation — which included clips of Obama laughing — proves that politics is nothing but professional wrestling.

“I just think politics is all WWE. And, you know, meanwhile we out here cutting off family and friends and business relationships because of who somebody chose to vote for. Like, stop running to kick that football, man. Cut it out. Politics is all WWE. It’s really just that simple for me,” he said.

“They could have been talking about the NFL. They could have been talking about anything,” Jess Hilarious added.

“Yeah, but after went so hard, calling somebody a threat to democracy and calling somebody a fascist and now you’re just chummy, chummy with the man? You told us he was a threat to democracy! To me, that’s just terrible political optics,” Charlamagne said.

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Obama called Trump a “wannabe dictator” and warned his actions were a threat to democracy.

“That’s WWE because they’re sitting next each other,” DJ Envy pushed back. “They could have been saying anything. Trump could have said, ‘you smell that?’ and somebody farted, and he could have just laughed. You just never know what they’re saying.”

“He was calling him a fascist just like his VP called him Hitler. Would you giggle with Hitler?” Charlamagne asked.

Charlamagne ultimately argued that the optics only send one message: Obama was “kissing the ring,” a point his co-hosts disagreed with.

“You got the last real leader of the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, laughing and giggling with Trump. Looking like, yeah, he’s kissing the ring,” Charlamagne said. “That’s what it looked like. It did.”
