Trump Grants Full Pardon to The Chrisleys, Reality TV Stars Convicted of Shocking Fraud

Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley

President Donald Trump called Savannah Chrisley from the Oval Office on Tuesday to tell her he would pardon her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted in 2022 of defrauding banks of millions of dollars.

The couple became famous on reality TV with their show Chrisley Knows Best, but were eventually jailed on charges related to some $30 million in fraudulent loans. Todd Chrisley received a 12-year jail sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years for the scheme.

NBC News reported in February that the couple was petitioning Trump for a pardon. “They believe that the president will seriously consider pardoning both Julie and Todd Chrisley as a result of the unfair treatment they received in the criminal justice system,” Jay Surgent, an attorney for the Chrisleys, told NBC at the time.

Trump White House communications aide Margo Martin shared the moment Trump called Savannah Chrisley, who spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention, from the Oval Office. Martin’s post included a bit of levity, writing, “Trump Knows Best!”

Trump has been on a fraudster pardoning spree of late, including pardoning a Virginia county Sheriff, Scott Jenkins, who had been found guilty of accepting more than $75,000 in bribes last December. Earlier on Tuesday, the New York Times reported on Trump’s pardon of tax fraudster and former nursing home executive Paul Walczak just weeks after his mother attended a $1 million fundraising dinner for Trump.

This is a breaking story and has been updated.
