Rand Paul Tells Maria Bartiromo That Fauci’s ‘Michael Cohen’-Like ‘Fixer’ Was a ‘Mob Boss Faking Dementia’ at Tense Hearing
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) wants the Department of Justice to be focusing on Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Michael Cohen-like “fixer” after tense testimony this week.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) advisor Dr. David Morens testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on Wednesday and admitted to using a private email account and “backchannels” to avoid communications that could be later obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests. In one email, Morens specifically refers to avoiding “smoking guns” in communications.
Paul has been one of Fauci’s most vocal critics, critical of his role in promoting Covid-19 mass restrictions — Fauci was the head of the NIH during the pandemic — as well as the doctor’s involvement in “gain of function” research. Paul has long argued Covid likely originated from a lab leak in China, something Fauci said in 2022 he’s “completely open” to, but it was a theory he had earlier pushed back on during the pandemic, claiming evidence pointed towards an animal to human transference.
The Kentucky senator has accused Fauci of conducting a “cover-up” to conceal the potential origins of Covid.
Paul described Morens as Fauci’s “fixer.” He’s referred him to the Department of Justice for an indictment, though he’s skeptical such an action will actually happen.
“David Morens is basically Anthony Fauci’s fixer. He’s been there with him for two decades. You can think of him as sort of Michael Cohen, Anthony Fauci’s Michael Cohen. He’s there to fix things. He’s there to keep a distance between Anthony Fauci and anything unseemly,” Paul told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday.
Cohen is the ex-attorney of Donald Trump. He recently testified against his ex-client at the former president’s Manhattan hush money trial, alleging he paid hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair between her and Trump. The former president has denied any knowledge of hush money payments, and he’s denied an affair ever happened.
Paul said Morens came across like a “sort of like a mob boss faking dementia,” blasting him for claiming that he did not know deleting emails would equate to deleting evidence or official communications.
“If he’s that incompetent, he never should have been hired,” Paul said.
