Governor Mike Dunleavy (R-AK) accepted the endorsement of former President Donald Trump on Thursday, apparently agreeing to Trump’s ultimatum that he not support Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in her bid for reelection.

On Tuesday, Trump said that Dunleavy “has my Complete and Total Endorsement but, this endorsement is subject to his non-endorsement of Senator Lisa Murkowski who has been very bad for Alaska.”

Trump, Thursday night, then sent out a statement praising Dunleavy, slamming Murkowski and making public Dunleavy’s acceptance of Trump’s conditional endorsement.

“Please tell the president thank you for the endorsement,” Dunleavy apparently said in a message to Trump. “With regard to the other issue, please tell the president he has nothing to worry about. I appreciate all 45 has done for Alaska and this country.”

Trump added:

This is why Mike Dunleavy of Alaska has been, and will be, a great Governor. He has the courage of his convictions. Lisa Murkowski is the “disaster from Alaska” who single-handedly blew ANWR, one of the largest energy sites in the world, and an incredible economic development opportunity for the Great State of Alaska!

Trump has been systematically endorsing the opponents of Republicans who have opposed him, particularly those who voted to impeach and convict him.

In February, Murkowski was one of seven Republican Senators to vote to convict the former president for his role in inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection. Trump endorsed Murkowski’s primary opponent Kelly Tshibaka in June.
