Did Trump Fall Asleep on Camera During Meeting With Saudis?
President Donald Trump appeared to struggle to fend off a serious case of the drowsies Tuesday morning during a signing ceremony with the Saudi royal family following a red-eye flight to the Middle East.
Trump is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a team of Cabinet members, business executives, and Sean Hannity as part of the first international visit of his second term. He has reportedly told those close to him that he intends to close $1 trillion in “deals” designed to benefit the U.S. economy during the trip.
The 78-year-old Trump appeared to fight off sleep during an on-camera ceremony with Saudi officials in Riyadh, which is seven hours ahead of Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, though.
The scene evoked a similar situation during which former President Joe Biden appeared to nod off during a climate change conference in Glasgow, Scotland three years ago; a clip of the incident was played on repeat in conservative media.
Trump reportedly nodded off repeatedly in court last year, although no cameras were allowed in the courtroom, so we can only take reporters’ word for that. Trump has denied the claim.
