Following the death of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, former President Donald Trump ranted that America is no longer feared and respected under President Joe Biden’s leadership.

The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in the country’s eastern Yamal region announced Navalny’s death on Friday morning, claiming he suddenly collapsed during a walk. The opposition leader and prominent critic of Vladimir Putin was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

Trump has remained silent on social media over Navalny’s death, but did take time on Friday to claim that Biden’s leadership has brought “misery, destruction, and death” into the world.

“In just three and a half years under Crooked Joe Biden, the World has experienced Misery, Destruction, and Death. America is no longer respected because we have an incompetent president who is weak and doesn’t understand what the World is thinking,” the GOP frontrunner wrote to his followers on Truth Social.

He added, “I am the only one who can bring Peace, Prosperity, and Stability like I did during my first term. America will be respected and feared (if necessary!) again.”

During Trump’s first term in office as president, Navalny was poisoned in August 2020 while waiting for a flight at a Russian airport.

Biden held a news conference on Friday following reports of the opposition leader’s death where he condemned Putin adding that Navalny’s passing was proof of the Russian president’s “brutality.”
