Biden: Trump’s Trying to ‘Undo Everything’ Obama Did, But He’s Unable To

Joe Biden, while appearing on CNN Tuesday night in an interview with Chris Cuomo, argued that President Donald Trump won’t be able to undo Barack Obama‘s policies, despite trying to.

After attacking the current administration as a “joke” and calling out their “naked nationalism,” the “genuinely concerned” former vice president went on a spirited monologue denouncing Trump trying to rid the country of “everything that President Obama has done”:

“This president has spent his entire time since he’s gotten in office trying to divide the country instead of trying to unite the country. As I said, I am more optimistic about the chances for America in the 21st century than I have been in my whole career. We have the most advanced universities in the world — where all the research comes out of. We have the most productive people in the world. We have the most agile venture capitalists — we’re energy independent in North America. I mean, what are we doing? We’re not talking about any of the things that really matter. And all he seems to be trying to do is undo everything that President Obama has done. But he’s not able to do that, by the way.”

When asked why Trump won’t be able to remove Obama’s legacy, Biden pointed to the president’s poor record on health care reform and noted that local governments are uniting against him to maintain the Paris climate agreement, despite the US leaving under the current administration.

“He can’t undo it all. He’s hurting it. He’s slowing the process,” said Biden. “But most of all we’re missing an enormous opportunity, an enormous opportunity to change the life for middle class people.”
