Brian Sicknick’s Mother Recounts ‘Tense’ Jan 6 Meetings With GOP Senators: We Knew ‘They Weren’t Sincere’

Brian Sicknick’s mother and partner alluded to “tense” conversations they had with Republican senators before Friday’s vote on the 1/6 commission.

Gladys Sicknick and Sandra Garza met with a number of GOP senators to push them to back the commission. Not enough Republicans ultimately supported it on Friday, and the vote failed.

As they spoke with Jake Tapper Friday, Garza said there were “tense moments” yesterday in their meetings, but added her hope that they will do some self-reflection.

Tapper followed up by asking Sicknick’s mother about those meetings, noting that Brian himself was a Republican and asking what those “tense moments” were.

“They were very charming,” Sicknick said, “and they knew what they were doing, they knew how to talk to us.”

“It was tense, and we just made believe everything was fine, and we were very nice to them. For the most part,” she added.

“We knew they weren’t sincere. They weren’t sincere.”
