CNN’s Erin Burnett: If Trump Solves North Korea Problem He Will Go ‘Down as a Great President’

Cable news networks have begun discussing President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that he will meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un sometime this year, with South Korean National Security Office Head Chung Eui-yong also announcing that Jong Un is committed to denuclearization and would likely commit to stopping further tests in their nuclear weapons program.

CNN’s Erin Burnett had some startling words for the president, should he pull off denuclearizing the country.

Burnett actually said that he would go down as a “great president” if his talks with Jong Un go well.

Here is the full quote.

“Just an extraordinary evening and, of course, opening the door to the big question,” she said. “If President Trump could truly solve this problem, that would be going down as a great president. There is no getting around that.”

CNN contributor Major General James Marks also said that Kim would be running the risk to be viewed as “irrelevant” and “not to be taken seriously” if he were not to acknowledge that the military coalition between America and South Korea was not “one of the best in the world.”

Marks ended his remarks with the same cautious optimism many in the media have presented since Trump’s announcement.

“There might be something real here, but again a large dose of skepticism has to be taken with all of this.”
