CNN’s John King: ‘The Democratic Party’s Future, at the Moment, Appears to Be Its Past’

On CNN’s Inside Politics today, John King brought up all the Democratic losses during the Obama years before saying, “This is not a criticism of any current Democratic leader, but the Democratic party’s future, at the moment, appears to be its past.”

He brought up the “unity tour” Bernie Sanders and DNC Chair Tom Perez are embarking on, in which both men will be traveling to mostly red states across the country.

CNN senior political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson observed that “Bernie Sanders, in some ways, sounds like a broken record,” while CNN senior White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny said Sanders being a leader in the Democratic party is “both a blessing and a curse.”

King also added that one of the lessons from Hillary Clinton‘s loss is that candidates should make sure to focus on “what you’re for, not just what you’re against.”
