Elizabeth Warren Slams Rudy Giuliani: ‘Highly Unethical’ for Him to Meet With Foreign Officials for Trump
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) accused Rudy Giuliani of “highly unethical” conduct on Friday over the news of his plot to push Ukrainian authorities to look into the son Joe Biden with his upcoming travels abroad.
“It is highly unethical for the president’s personal lawyer to go meet with officials from a foreign government to see if they can influence somehow the upcoming presidential election,” Warren told reporters. “We’ve had enough of that, Rudy Giuliani should just back off.”
Warren was responding to Giuliani’s confirmation of a New York Times report on his plan to travel to Ukraine and speak to officials from the newly-elected government about a number of matters for President Donald Trump‘s benefit. The former New York City mayor plans to look into the origin of Robert Mueller‘s investigation, and he also will ask the government for information about Biden’s role in the 2016 dismissal of a top Ukrainian prosecutor who once investigated a gas company that Hunter Biden, the ex-veep’s son, was employed with as a board member.
“We’re not meddling in an election, we’re meddling in an investigation, which we have a right to do,” Giuliani told the Times. “There’s nothing illegal about it. Somebody could say it’s improper. And this isn’t foreign policy — I’m asking them to do an investigation that they’re doing already and that other people are telling them to stop.”
