Ex-Wife of Rob Porter Reveals He Contacted Her Before FBI Interview in Which She Detailed Abuse
Jennifer Willoughby, the ex wife of former White House staff secretary Robert Porter who resigned this week after allegations he abused both of his ex wives surfaced, opened up on the Today show about the abusive relationship.
Willoughby detailed her relationship with Porter to NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, which ranged from the “verbally and emotionally abusive” to the physical.
She claimed Porter once dragged her out of the shower naked during a fight, and was verbally abusive, calling her a “fucking bitch” on the pair’s honeymoon. And in 2010, following their separation, she filed a temporary restraining order against Porter after he punched in a window of their home.
Guthrie then brought up Porter’s first ex-wive Colbie Holderness, who accused the former Trump aide of beating her, noting she released an image showing her with a black eye.
“Do you believe her?” Guthrie asked.
“Of course I believe her,” Willoughby replied, holding back tears.
“You think he’s capable of that?” Guthrie followed up, and Willoughby nodded, repeating, “I believe her.”
Willoughby and Holderness were both contacted by the FBI as part of the process of giving the White House senior aide security clearance, which he never received. Both ex-wives detailed their abuse to the FBI, and Holderness provided the photos of her bruised face.
Willoughby revealed to Guthrie that Porter reached out to her before she was contacted by the FBI to ask what she was going to tell them about their relationship.
“He was curious what I was going to say, he really wanted to know, ‘what are you going to tell them,'” she said. “I told him, I’m going to tell them the truth.”
Willoughby added that Porter accepted her decision.
