Lindsey Graham Swipes at Republicans’ Election Stunt for ‘Not Effectively Fighting’ for Trump

Lindsey Graham has been a key ally of President Donald Trump’s throughout his presidency and now throughout this increasingly-desperate attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
But apparently the gambit his fellow Senate Republicans are pulling is just too much for him to support.
In a statement Sunday, Graham reacted to the stunt Ted Cruz and others are engaging in to object to the election results unless there’s an emergency 10-day audit beforehand.
Graham actually attacked them for not being more effective in fighting for the president, saying this commission they’re calling for has “zero chance of becoming reality” and that this looks to be a “political dodge.”
Proposing a commission at this late date – which has zero chance of becoming reality – is not effectively fighting for President Trump.
It appears to be more of a political dodge than an effective remedy. https://t.co/4bIT1J36cL

His statement does not directly state how he plans to vote on the matter, instead saying he will listen to his colleagues’ objections and adding, “They will need to provide proof of the charges they are making.”
They will also need to provide clear and convincing evidence that the failure to act – in both the state and federal courts and the states legislatures which investigated these claims – was made in error.

My colleagues will have the opportunity to make this case, and I will listen closely. But they have a high bar to clear.

There has been no evidence of voter fraud that would change the outcome of the election. The president, of course, has touted the efforts by Republicans to object.
