Mika Brzezinski: Speaker Pelosi Intends to Use ‘Full Force’ to Get Mueller Report Out
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi intends to use “full force” to have Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s report on the Trump-Russia investigation released to the public, she reportedly told Morning Joe‘s Mika Brzezinski in a private interview Wednesday.
Brzezinski told Joe Scarborough this morning that she had spoken to the Speaker regarding a book she was writing when Pelosi began discussing the Mueller report.
“I asked her if she’d be using her powerful platform as Speaker of the House to call on the Attorney General to release the Mueller report in its entirety, and this is what she said,” said Brzezinski, then turning to her notes and reading a transcript from Pelosi’s statement aloud.
Pelosi had told Brzezinski she is willing to use “leverage” in getting Attorney General William Barr to release Mueller’s report and underlying documents, and that she intends to use “full force” in making sure the public has them.
Read Pelosi’s statement, as dictated by Brzezinski, below:
I defer to my six excellent chairs who have called upon the Attorney General to release the documents, the underlying documents as well. So, to that extent, we go through the normal channels here. That’s an important use of leverage. But now we’re talking the big issue. we’re talking about the Constitution of the United States. We’re talking about them undermining the role of Congress and our oversight responsibilities. We’re demanding that, and the public understands that we have to see the truth. Again, it’s not about politics, it’s not about partisanship, it’s about patriotism. It’s about honoring our oath of office, and yes, I intend to use the full force of the speaker’s office obviously or less so to make sure we see those documents.
