Robin Williams’ Daughter: ‘There’s No Point Questioning’ My Dad’s Suicide

Zelda Williams has spoken publicly for the first time about how she plans to memorialize the life of her father, comedian Robin Williams, who tragically committed suicide last August.

The death of the beloved comedian sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, and Zelda told the Today Show that, at this point, “I don’t think there’s a point” to keep asking why he made that decision. “It’s not important to ask.”

“There’s no point questioning it and no point blaming anyone for it,” Zelda continued. “And there’s no point blaming yourself or the world or whatever the case may be, because it happened and you have to continue to move and you have to continue to live and manage.”

To honor her father, Zelda said she would continue his charity work, and will present a “Noble Award” this week honoring his work with the Challenged Athlete Foundation. “He’s done charity as long as he had the wherewithal and the ability to do it,” she said. “That was what his favorite thing other than comedy really was.”

As for everyone else whose lives were affected by Williams’ work, she says this: “People should remember what they want to remember of him. Who am I to guide what their childhood memories are of watching his movies?”
