Trump Trashes ‘Crooked Hillary Clinton’ While Touting His Hard Line on NATO
While visiting with a group of Baltic leaders earlier today, President Donald Trump trashed his defeated 2016 presidential rival while using his favorite campaign trail nickname for her.
Bragging about how he had been able to get other countries to contribute more money to NATO — stating it was “because of me” — and questioning why Germany was paying for Russian energy resources, Trump took some pointed shots at former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“So you look at what’s going on. Germany pays 1 percent — the United States is paying close to 4 percent,” he exclaimed. “The United States, as you said, is spending 80. Because of what I said in the countries, they’ve brought in many billions of dollars more than they would have if you had Crooked Hillary Clinton as president, okay? That I can tell you.”
As he made his “Crooked Hillary” crack, he was addressing Defense Secretary James Mattis, who didn’t look all that thrilled to hear the president toss out that insult in front of other foreign leaders.
Folks on Twitter, meanwhile, reacted to Trump reliving the campaign:

Americans may be numbed to this, but it makes us an embarrassment around the world to have a President refer to "Crooked Hillary" in a Summit (with the leaders of three countries threatened by Russia) https://t.co/TSouhWSzB8
