Tucker Carlson Spends Election Night Calling Out Mediaite’s Colby Hall for…Praising Chris Cuomo?
Tucker Carlson, in a desperate bid to get covered by Mediaite, spent an entire segment of his Fox News show on the night of Alabama’s bombshell Senate race bemoaning a story by our own Colby Hall.
Carlson interrupted his coverage of the special election to take aim at a Mediaite story from Tuesday morning that praised Chris Cuomo for a segment in which the CNN host analyzed and methodically dismissed a tweet from President Donald Trump.
The Fox News host first launched into a somewhat bizarre critique of Cuomo’s social media posts, mocking him for “stream of consciousness musings often delivered while sweating and grunting in the gym.”
Carlson then turned his exhaustingly prolix prose towards Mediaite, decrying managing editor Hall’s piece for the “quivering intensity of its love for Chris Cuomo.”
After reading out the first paragraph of Hall’s story, which described Cuomo’s “sharp legal mind,” Carlson recalled the time the CNN morning host mistakenly claimed that the Constitution does not protect hate speech.
“Yep, not so sharp,” Carlson seethed through his tightly drawn tie.
“But that didn’t slow the author of the Mediaite piece, a man named Colby Hall,” Carlson continued. “Hall, in a flourish North Korean PR professionals would envy, slobbered on about Cuomo’s ‘well-reasoned and dispassionate manner that viewers have come to expect.'”
The Fox News pundit – and recovering bowtie fetishist – went on to argue that the Mediaite story is “not journalism,” and even questioned whether its publication should be considered “stalking.”
“The real question is, is this stalking?” Carlson asked his millions of viewers, as exit polls flowed in from the Alabama senate race. “Should Chris Cuomo be concerned that an editor at Mediaite clearly has posters of him in his bedroom?”
Carlson — who may still feel a sense of rivalry with Cuomo, as he himself was once a morning show host on Fox & Friends, until his particular brand of snarky Anti-Anti-Trumpism and tactful evisceration of high-school-aged liberals secured him a primetime gig — concluded by wishing Cuomo the best, we can only assume sarcastically.
