WATCH: Meghan McCain Snaps at Joy Behar Over Melania Joke, Leading to Fireworks on The View

The View erupted on Thursday morning when co-hosts Meghan McCain and Joy Behar, who represent polar opposite sides of the political aisle, once again clashed on a topic about which they never seem to agree: Melania Trump.

The conservative political analyst and liberal comedian sparred after Behar made a joke about it being the first lady’s birthday.

“That was necessary,” McCain snapped, sarcastically. “Come on! That’s so mean.”

Behar refused to back down, instead directing a personal critique toward McCain. “What was mean about it?” she said, later adding “You have no sense of humor, that’s your problem.”

“Oh, please. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humor,” McCain shot back. “It’s because I feel bad for our first lady.”

The View has been discussing the first lady’s seemingly difficult position in recent weeks, noting how she appears to be balancing her own reputation with that of her husband’s throughout the president’s ongoing and daily controversies. McCain has defended the first lady and repeatedly said she “feels bad” she’s in her current position.

“I wish you would understand who the target of my jokes is,” Behar said, wrapping up the segment.
