Ahh, the perils of live television.
Going into last night’s broadcast of Saturday Night Live, many wondered how the show would handle President Donald Trump’s “shithole” comments and if they’d actually say the word. But prior to Colin Jost and Michael Che addressing the president’s controversial remarks during Weekend Update — they both said shithole — guest host Sam Rockwell used some blue language of his own.
In a skit in which Rockwell played the host of an ’80s PBS science show, the actor got a bit carried away and ended up dropping an f-bomb on live broadcast TV.
“You can’t be this fucking stupid!” Rockwell, playing Mr. Science, exclaimed. He immediately covered his mouth, seemingly realizing what he had just done, saying “I’m sorry.”
Meanwhile, skit co-stars Mikey Day and Cecily Strong rolled with the gaffe and all three of them were able to complete the sketch without any additional hitches.
Meanwhile, one can only assume that NBC will receive some kind of notification from the FCC over the profanity.
