Reporters grilled Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster earlier over the claims from Russia that President Trump accepted Vladimir Putin‘s denial of election interference.
After Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made that claim yesterday, Putin himself claimed today that Trump seemed “satisfied” with his answer.
There was at least one White House official who was refuting this to reporters:
NEW: Admin official disputes FM Lavrov's assertion that Trump accepted Putin's assurances that Russia didn't meddle in US election.

Senior admin official tells me POTUS did not accept Putin claim of non-interference in last year's election.

But Mnuchin and McMaster––neither of whom were in the room for the meeting––did not refute the Russian claim. At one point, Mnuchin said Trump “will be happy to make statements himself.”
President Trump did not hold a press conference today before leaving the summit.
