The View Debates Jon Stewart’s Comments on the Press: ‘We’re Becoming Ratings Whores, All the Media’
The View, Thursday, devoted a segment to discussing Jon Stewart‘s comments Wednesday in which he accused the media of taking the bait from President Donald Trump.
“I think that journalists have taken it personally, they are personally wounded and offended by this man. He baits them, and they dive in,” Stewart said. “What he’s done well, I thought, is appeal to their own narcissism, to their own ego, because when he [attacks the media], they say, we are noble, we are honorable, how dare you, sir! And they take it personally.”
Whoopi Goldberg took issue with Stewart’s commentary.
“What exactly are journalists supposed to do if someone is constantly calling you out saying you’re a liar?” She said.
Joy Behar, though, believes Stewart is on to something.
“Some of the stuff that they continuously cover like these rallies, just rerun the last one,” Behar said. “It’s the same as the one you’re doing right now. So it’s like it’s a waste of air time in a way. So in that way, I think that Jon is right that we’re becoming ratings whores, all the media.”
