Biden on 2016 Decision: ‘Not Quite There Yet’

bidenAs speculation continues to mount over a possible Joe Biden presidential candidacy, the vice president said in a new interview published Monday that he and his family are “not quite there yet” on making a final decision, which he acknowledged might not come in time to jump into the race.

“For us it’s a family decision,” Biden said in an interview conducted on Sept. 17th with America Magazine. “And I just have to be comfortable that this will be good for the family.”

Biden mostly reiterated past statements he has made when asked about his thought process on mounting a third presidential campaign, but said a decision might not come “in time to make it feasible to be able to run and succeed because there are certain windows that will close.”

“But if that’s it, that’s it,” Biden continued. “But it’s not like I can rush it. It’s not like it either happens or it doesn’t happen. I know that’s not satisfying to anybody, but people who have been there, I know they understand.”

Jill Biden, the vice president’s wife, is reportedly “100 percent on-board” if her husband chooses to seek the Democratic nomination. The first Democratic debate is Oct. 13th in Nevada.

In the interview, Biden was also asked about his thoughts on Pope Francis ahead of his visit to the U.S., as well as his Catholic faith.
