Bill Cosby’s Twitter Meme Challenge Goes Horribly Wrong

Monday afternoon, whoever runs Bill Cosby’s social media team decided to tweet this challenge to his nearly 4 million Twitter followers:

Is it possible that they didn’t anticipate how this seemingly innocent request for #CosbyMemes would inevitably result in pointed references to the numerous rape allegations that have resurfaced over the past few weeks?

After video of comedian Hannibal Buress joking about Cosby being a “rapist” — though not a convicted one — went viral, it seems to be the first thing many Twitter users thought of when the opportunity to create a #CosbyMeme arrived.
