Congressional Approval Numbers Sink To Record Lows
How low can you go?
Just when you thought Congress couldn’t possibly be any less popular than it already was, a new CNN poll finds approval for Congress has hit a record low: 10 percent.
The basic takeaway from this poll is that the people hate everyone (compared to May), with a majority now holding an unfavorable view of the Democrats, the Republicans’ approval dropping from 35 to 32 percent, and another “all-time high” for unfavorability of the tea party movement.
President Obama‘s approval numbers have been steady at around 44 percent, but both House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have record unfavorability numbers (48 percent and 45 percent, respectively). The congressional leader with the highest unfavorable numbers is Nancy Pelosi at 51 percent.
Ted Cruz also has slightly unfavorable numbers, but roughly a third of those polled don’t know enough about him to have an opinion on the Texas senator.
And this is all before the government shuts down…
